Our street is named after Pedagogo Pestalozzi. But do you know who was he?
Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746 – 1827), known in the Spanish-speaking countries as Enrique Pestalozzi, was an influential educator and Swiss reformer, who applied the ideals of Enlightenment movement to pedagogy.
Like his predecessor Rousseau, Pestalozzi believed that the solution to contradictions and poverty in society should be sought in a good education. He believed that children should not be having the knowledge given to them, but rather the opportunity to learn themselves through personal activity.
